Our Story

Adding colourful gorgeousness to the world, one accessory at a time

We’re delighted to have you here, in the home of gorgeous and reasonably priced, colourful, quality jewellery and accessories. And what we want, is to make you feel amazing. The right piece of jewellery can pull together the perfect outfit, evoke wonderful memories or make your gift recipient feel really special.

Our journey with jewellery began in 2003 at a market in Otavalo, Ecuador. Coming across a table of beautifully made filigree jewellery, Sarah, our founder, negotiated with the crafter to buy everything on display. Despite speaking Spanish, it took a while to convince the woman that she really did want the whole lot but eventually they packed it up together and the trader went home early with a big smile on her face. Buying jewellery hadn’t been part of the original travel plans but throughout the year long trip around South America and South East Asia, Sarah found so much that she loved, that she carried on, buying it, boxing it up and posting it home.

Following a whirlwind decade of selling at festivals alongside a full-time job, launching a wholesale arm, and then becoming fully self-employed and opening a shop, Sarah conceived the Miss Milly brand. The new business was created from the existing solid foundations and then developed, always with the same guiding principles; friendly, honest, helpful and with an epic dose of excellent customer service. And in 2022 we celebrate our 10th birthday, stronger than ever and always working to improve our product offering and service to retailers and consumers alike.

Meet our Team

Sarah Watmore lives in a village near Worcester with her teenage daughter, Milly. After an exciting start to her schooling in Papua New Guinea when her family emigrated for two years, she grew up mostly in Aylesbury and then studied French and Public Media at university in Leeds. Before launching her own business, Sarah worked in PR and Marketing Communications for ICI, Halfords and The Gro Company. When not working, you’ll generally find Sarah on a bicycle; riding for leisure, racing or doing the grocery shop. And when she can, she cycles to meetings too!

In 2021, Sarah was honoured to be named one of the UK’s top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Small Business Britain’s #ialso campaign. She is passionate about small business and women in business, and where possible works with local, female-led companies, always aiming to build long-term, reliable relationships. Warehousing and order dispatch is managed by Tidal Fulfilment, down the road in Herefordshire. The website was created by Design In The Shires, a family business based locally in Malvern, and graphic design is undertaken by Arliam Design not far away in Stourbridge. The sales team comprises self-employed agents around the UK and you can find out more about them here. And at tradeshows, Sarah is ably assisted by her wing woman, Helen Harris, from H2H Marketing.

BE PART OF OUR JOURNEY

  • In a bid to stem the huge influx of cheap imports from companies such as Temu and Shein, the EU is introducing new legislation and fees affecting direct to consumer orders sent from the UK (and all non-EU countries) to EU countries, including the Republic of Ireland but NOT Northern Ireland.

From 3 July, all small parcels under €150 will incur a €3 fee for each product category or HS code. The Harmonized System is a universal numbering code for products. So at Miss Milly, for example, we have:
* imitation jewellery made of base metal
* scarves made with majority cotton
* scarves made with majority synthetic fibres
* handmade leather bags
* handmade leather purses
* keyrings

If you order one leather bag, you will be charged €3. If you order two leather bags, you will be charged €3. If you order one leather bag and one leather purse, you will be charged €6.

We understand that this fee will be charged directly to the recipient when the shipment reaches the destination EU country in the same way as current import duties.

So please be aware of this. We are currently looking at how to add a reminder message about this during the checkout process.

This fee is called the €3 Temporary Customs Duty or EU Small Parcel Levy. It is the first stage of a major multi-tier customs reform due for implementation in 2028.

We absolutely applaud the EU for this move as copycat and cheap products from Alibaba, Temu and Shein are hugely detrimental to small businesses from both copyright and sales perspectives. But it is also another barrier to the UK doing business with its closest neighbours and a continuation of the damage that Brexit has delivered.

Whilst we openly admit that we manufacture in China, we are incredibly proud of our recognisable brand, and the product designs and quality we offer, always striving to be different from our competitors.
  • We really do care 🩷 And not just about how our products are made, priced and marketed, but about how they are dispatched ready for you to treasure or gift. And we always do our best to resolve any issues as efficiently as we can.

We work with @tidalfulfilment for dispatch, a fulfilment house local to us in the Herefordshire hills. In the 10 years we have been in partnership we have together witnessed both businesses go from strength to strength. And we were delighted when Tidal achieved B Corp status in 2025, underlining its commitment to both its team and the environment.

We firmly believe that you can’t beat the service from a small business that treats each customer as an important individual.
