Our Story

Adding colourful gorgeousness to the world, one accessory at a time

We’re delighted to have you here, in the home of gorgeous and reasonably priced, colourful, quality jewellery and accessories. And what we want, is to make you feel amazing. The right piece of jewellery can pull together the perfect outfit, evoke wonderful memories or make your gift recipient feel really special.

Our journey with jewellery began in 2003 at a market in Otavalo, Ecuador. Coming across a table of beautifully made filigree jewellery, Sarah, our founder, negotiated with the crafter to buy everything on display. Despite speaking Spanish, it took a while to convince the woman that she really did want the whole lot but eventually they packed it up together and the trader went home early with a big smile on her face. Buying jewellery hadn’t been part of the original travel plans but throughout the year long trip around South America and South East Asia, Sarah found so much that she loved, that she carried on, buying it, boxing it up and posting it home.

Following a whirlwind decade of selling at festivals alongside a full-time job, launching a wholesale arm, and then becoming fully self-employed and opening a shop, Sarah conceived the Miss Milly brand. The new business was created from the existing solid foundations and then developed, always with the same guiding principles; friendly, honest, helpful and with an epic dose of excellent customer service. And in 2022 we celebrate our 10th birthday, stronger than ever and always working to improve our product offering and service to retailers and consumers alike.

Meet our Team

Sarah Watmore lives in a village near Worcester with her teenage daughter, Milly. After an exciting start to her schooling in Papua New Guinea when her family emigrated for two years, she grew up mostly in Aylesbury and then studied French and Public Media at university in Leeds. Before launching her own business, Sarah worked in PR and Marketing Communications for ICI, Halfords and The Gro Company. When not working, you’ll generally find Sarah on a bicycle; riding for leisure, racing or doing the grocery shop. And when she can, she cycles to meetings too!

In 2021, Sarah was honoured to be named one of the UK’s top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Small Business Britain’s #ialso campaign. She is passionate about small business and women in business, and where possible works with local, female-led companies, always aiming to build long-term, reliable relationships. Warehousing and order dispatch is managed by Tidal Fulfilment, down the road in Herefordshire. The website was created by Design In The Shires, a family business based locally in Malvern, and graphic design is undertaken by Arliam Design not far away in Stourbridge. The sales team comprises self-employed agents around the UK and you can find out more about them here. And at tradeshows, Sarah is ably assisted by her wing woman, Helen Harris, from H2H Marketing.

  • Having been a bit overwhelmed during her presentation for Micro Business Of the Year last week at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards, it was fantastic to have this video sent over so Sarah could take it in properly.

What does it take to win this competitive award? Remarkable resilience followed by sustained growth underpinned with a clear business model and a successful marketing strategy. That’s our last five years in a nutshell, not forgetting a very liberal sprinkling of passion. We love what we do.

Being resilient is an essential quality of successful businesses, and the people that run them, in a world that is unpredictable and forever changing.

If you’re a gift or fashion retailer looking to refresh your jewellery and accessory ranges, get in touch. Take it from Luke, we might only be micro but we’re definitely mighty!

  • POV: you don’t wear bracelets because you struggle with the clasps.

We hear you! None of our bracelets have clasps, tiny or otherwise, that make it really hard to put on and take off by yourself. Our bracelets are either elasticated or hinged, and a couple have a pull fastening so you can adjust the size to fit your wrist.

Thank you so much, I'll absolutely be recommending you. These are gifts but I'll be back for myself soon too.
