BE PART OF OUR JOURNEY

  • Welcome to September! The 2nd is always special to us as on this day 13 years ago in 2012, we launched Miss Milly to the retail trade at @springautumnfair in Birmingham.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”, we’d absolutely agree with Charles Dickens on this one. Miss Milly was born from the split of a previous business and a marriage, but proved to be the new direction that our founder, Sarah, really needed. As many an entrepreneur will tell you, being able to throw yourself into a new project can be great therapy. And 13 years later, here we are, successful, stronger and about to exhibit at our 13th Autumn Fair as Milly Milly.

Come and see us in Hall 7, Stand D54-E55, from Sunday to Wednesday at the NEC (trade only) and enjoy our full Autumn-Winter collection. Our stand is very different these days!

Our launch has some pretty great “on this day” company. Here’s a few other positive 2 September facts:

* The first non-stop Europe to America transatlantic flight arrived in New York from Paris, piloted by Dieudonne Costes and Maurice Bellonte. It took over 37 hours!
* The end of World War II in 1945
* The birth of Keanu Reeves in 1964 (no, we didn’t think he was that old either)
* The launch of @google Chrome in 2008

  • Meet Our Team

Miss Milly might be a micro business and you may only ever have dealings with Sarah or your sales agent but there’s a fantastic team of friendly people that work well together to keep the wheels turning.

* Sarah is the founder of Miss Milly and the designer, production overseer, logistics arranger, marketer and decision maker. This business is a true labour of love ❤️

* “Jennie could sell ice to eskimos” was the intro Sarah had to our Scottish sales agent. Thankfully over the past 11 years she’s not had to; we’ve always had plenty of jewellery, scarves and bags for her to share with her lovely retailers in Scotland! @jenniewilkieagencies

* Cath joined the team a year ago and despite Sarah’s strong linguistic abilities, has frequently had to endure terrible place name pronunciation. @cwaswan_

* Lesley also joined us a year ago to cover a huge territory stretching from Notts and Derbyshire down to Glos with the Channel Islands thrown in for fun. @lesleythorneagencies

* Julia has been with the team for 6.5 years, helping to grow the Miss Milly brand in Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire, including the Isle of Wight, one of her favourite places to visit.

* Helen is Sarah’s wing woman from uni who helps out at trade shows (with little bribery required) and is a fantastic sounding board. As a fellow small biz owner, she understands how fully immersed you can become and offers a different perspective.

* Milly is Sarah’s daughter who has been helping at markets and shows from an early age. She’ll be setting up at @springautumnfair next week but is then earning pennies elsewhere for gap year travel. Exciting!

* Kyle from @designintheshires in Malvern is our interminably patient web master. He keeps the website live and running (mostly) smoothly despite internet obstacles and Sarah’s many development requests!

* Jen and her team at @tidalfulfilment down the road in Herefordshire look after our inventory and get your orders picked, packed and dispatched. They became B Corp Certified last year, something we’re incredibly proud of.

* Tracey at Teme Valley Bookkeeping, another local business, ensures our finances are efficient and organised.

  • Do you want to wear more colour? We hear it a lot. “I love your colours but I’m a neutrals person” or “I just don’t think fuchsia is my colour but I love it.” Nothing is prescribed, destined or absolute with accessories. And life is really too short. Wear what brings you joy and if you can’t yet quite put on the lime green blouse, go with a scarf or bangle instead. You might just surprise yourself!
  • It’s such a lovely feeling to open an unexpected email and find a wonderful customer review inside 🥰 it means a lot that somebody takes the time to write to let you know they’re happy with their order. Thank you, Barbara!

“I’ve just received my order and I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve been hunting for scarves for some time and these are exactly what I’ve been looking for - lovely quality and beautifully packaged too!
Many thanks, Barbara”
